I am currently a PhD candidate in political science at the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. My academic work focuses on understanding the relationship between ideology and violence, using a comparative approach that considers diverse extreme ideologies - from the far right to the far left. In these studies I use both qualitative and quantitative methods, utilizing case studies, network analysis, and text mining. I frequently use big data for both practical and academic projects.

Prior to pursuing my PhD, I worked for more than a decade in international development on projects focused on democracy, human rights, gender, civil society engagement and countering extremism in the Middle East and North Africa.
